The Person Behind the Practice

An engineer who traded debugging code for debugging bodies — and found that the same precision matters in both.

From Engineering to Bodywork

Julian Corwin didn't take the typical path into manual therapy. With a background in engineering and systems thinking, he approached the human body the way you'd approach any complex system: understand the inputs, map the outputs, and figure out where the signal is getting lost.

After years of watching smart, well-meaning practitioners run the same protocols on every patient — and watching those patients plateau or bounce between providers — Julian started asking a different question. Not "what technique should I use?" but "what is this body actually doing, and why?"

The Practice

Pain & Performance Solutions is based in Santa Rosa, California. The practice focuses on resolving persistent musculoskeletal pain — the kind that has already survived rounds of physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, massage, and cortisone shots. The people who show up here have usually tried everything. They're not looking for another treatment. They're looking for an answer.

Julian draws from Anatomy in Motion (AiM), NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT), Active Release Techniques (ART), and other assessment-driven methodologies. But the methodology is never the point. The point is identifying the specific mechanical reason a body is producing pain — and then changing that input so the output changes.

Why Products?

The tools in this store didn't start as products. They started as solutions to clinical problems. The AiM Wedges exist because practitioners needed a precise, repeatable way to alter foot-ground relationships during assessment. The Compression Wraps exist because the wraps available at medical supply stores were either too flimsy for therapeutic use or too aggressive for safe self-care.

If a tool doesn't change outcomes in the treatment room, it doesn't belong in this store. That's the only product criteria that matters.

The Philosophy

Pain is not the problem. Pain is the report. The body is telling you exactly what's wrong — you just need the tools and the training to listen. Every product and every treatment at Pain & Performance Solutions starts from that premise.

No wellness theater. No vague promises about "alignment" or "balance." Just precise inputs that produce measurable changes in how a body moves, loads, and feels.
